The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has allocated $200 million for electricity modernization projects in Sri Lanka, with $150 million for the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and $50 million for Lanka Electricity (Pvt) Ltd. Additionally, ADB approved a $30 million Small Expenditure Financing Facility (SEFF) to ensure the sustainability of energy sector projects, promote renewable energy, and encourage private sector participation. Of this, $15 million will enhance the operational sustainability of the Moragolla Hydropower Plant, while the remainder will support renewable energy generation and grid integration. These efforts align with Sri Lanka's goal of achieving 70% renewable electricity generation by 2030, requiring significant investments in infrastructure, policy reforms, and international financing.
