The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved revised electricity charges, effective from October 20. These changes, requested by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), aim to boost the state-run utility's revenue. The new fixed charges are applicable until June 30, 2024, with increases based on consumption levels. The PUCSL also urged the CEB to fulfill conditions set in previous tariff approvals. The CEB sought higher tariffs due to increased costs in thermal power generation during dry weather conditions. A consultation was held with various parties before approving the tariff revisions.
