On 01 February 2025, the retail prices of 92-octane petrol and auto diesel remained unchanged at LKR 309 and LKR 286 per litre, respectively. Only the super diesel prices were increased from LKR 313.00 to LKR 331.00.
This makes February 2025 the first month since 2022 (on the publicfinance.lk fuel price tracker dashboard) where market prices are effectively in line with the formula, meaning the CPC is supplying fuel at a price within a 2% margin of the cost
Despite stable retail prices, the Fuel Price Tracker the price calculated on the formula increased due to the change in the exchange rate and the increase in the benchmark prices in the global market
Note: Some parameters on the application of the Sri Lanka’s fuel price formula were revised in January 2025. Refer Fuel Price Formula: Revised Methodology for more details. A 2% variation from the formula price is considered as still in-keeping with the formula due to variations in the price of each purchase relative to the benchmark price in the global market.
