President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, during a meeting with the visiting IMF delegation led by Senior Mission Chief Peter Breuer, emphasized the need for a balanced approach to Sri Lanka's economic recovery that considers the hardships faced by citizens amid inflation and economic pressures. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to collaborating with the IMF to implement policies addressing fiscal challenges while prioritizing social spending to combat child poverty, malnutrition, and support for differently-abled individuals. Governance and anti-corruption were key discussion points, with the President pledging efficient resource allocation and a steadfast commitment to rebuilding public trust and fighting corruption, aligning with the people’s mandate and the IMF program's goals.
